Black Hills State athletics is disappointed to announce the cancelation of the 2021 Arizona Golf Event at the Fire Rock Country Club in Fountain Hills, Ariz. due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, BHSU is fortunate that Johnnie and Shirley Johnson have decided to match all donations made in lieu of the golf event up to $25,000.

We must also be transparent of the absolute need to generate revenues to sustain our long-term success. Black Hills State University relies on Ticket Sales, Private Donations, Concessions, etc., to pay for student-athlete scholarships.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, ticket and concessions sales will be minimal. In addition, the inability to have maximum capacity at games and outside events, may lead to unfunded obligations.

Last year's Arizona Golf Tournament raised $57,050 for student-athlete scholarships, half of which was donated by the Johnson's, the other half by individual contributions.

BHSU athletics is asking those who have enjoyed this event before to consider investing the amount of the event fee and help us match the Johnson's $25,000. Donations can be made here.
