Denver, CO - The Black Hills State University women's basketball team couldn't connect with the net in the final quarter of play resulting in a 53 – 62 loss to the MSU-Denver Roadrunners. The Yellow Jackets end the weekend 9-6 in RMAC play and 12-8 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 16-11 lead in the first quarter of play and entered half with a slight 31-28 advantage. The Roadrunners would keep it competitive in the third to enter the final ten minutes of play trailing by just one. The Yellow Jackets were shut down in the fourth quarter being outscored 17-7. Multiple late quarter three point misses allowed the Roadrunners to go on 9-0 run to end the game.
On the night the team shot 19 – 57 (33 percent) including 23 percent (5-21) from downtown. At the charity stripe, they hit 10 of 15 (66 percent).
Morgan Ham was the only Yellow Jacket in double digits with 15 points, she was 6 for 14 on the night.
Racquel Wientjes posted eight points and recorded seven rebounds along with two steals.
The Green and Gold return home next weekend to host CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands.
