Wrapping up the Regular Home Season

Spearfish, SD - This weekend the Black Hills State University Men's Basketball team will host their last two home games of the regular season. Friday night, they will take on Metropolitan State University of Denver at 7:30 p.m. at the Donald E. Young Center. Saturday, will be the Jacket's senior night as they face Chadron State College at 6 p.m. This year's seniors include Stefan Desnica, Antonio Capley and Tyler Oliver.

"Our team is excited to be home again this weekend with an opportunity to get back to playing our brand of basketball, said head coah Ryan Thompson. "We are also looking forward to our senior night on Saturday. Our three seniors have given a lot to our program and we look forward to honoring them."
 
The Yellow Jackets took their first loss Friday night to Colorado State University Pueblo after winning 12 conference games in a row. The team is currently tied for first in the RMAC with Dixie State. Currently, the Yellow Jackets have a 14-3 conference record and 17-6 overall record.
 
The Green and Gold have seen great production from multiple players this year. Last weekend, sophomore Sava Dukic led the team with 15.5 points per game, with an outstanding performance of 23 points versus New Mexico Highlands. Overall, the team has the second-best shooting percentage in the league at 51 percent. Joel Scott paves the way for the Yellow Jackets, averaging 17.8 PPG which is fourth in the conference. His shooting rate of 61 percent is second best in the RMAC.
 
Senior Tyler Oliver averages 14.4 PPG and leads the team and sits second in the conference for rebounds, with 7.4 rebounds per game. He also averages four assists per game. With the season winding down, Oliver commented, "We're just trying to treat each game like it's the championship. Our main goal is to be playing our best basketball by March and with that, hopefully comes a RMAC championship banner."
 
 MSU Denver
MSU Denver is 6-11 in the conference and are currently not in the top eight for playoffs. They are coming off a tough weekend, taking losses to both University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado School of Mines. The Roadrunners are led by Druce Asah who averages 11.3 PPG and Garrett Carter with 10.4 PPG. Maris Colton leads the team with 5 RPG. Earlier this season the Green and Gold came away with a 97-74 win.
 
Chadron State
Chadron State is 2-15 in conference play and are also coming off of two tough losses. The Eagles are led by Brian Rodriguez, averaging 17.2 PPG and 5.9 RPG. Jacob Jefferson and Colby Jackson also contribute double-digits, with 11.5 and 10.8 PPG respectively. Jackson also leads the team in assists and sits second in the conference, averaging almost six assists per game. The Yellow Jackets toppled Chadron 97-74 in their match up in January.
