WBB: Yellow Jackets Rout Chadron State

Spearfish, SD – Led by balanced play, the Black Hills State University women's basketball team routed the Chadron State Eagles 72-49. Splitting the weekend, the Yellow Jackets are now 12-7 in the RMAC and 15-9 on the season.
 
Before the game, Coach Nore recognized three seniors Abby Switzer, Danielle Noble, and Hannah Cass.

"There was great energy tonight," said Nore. "It was a fun game and a great way to celebrate our seniors." 
 
Chadron opened up with an early 4-0 lead then couldn't do much after that as the Yellow Jackets took swift control of the game. If turnovers were points, the Eagles might have had a chance as they recorded 32 total turnovers. In the first period alone, the Yellow Jackets forced over 15 turnovers and only allowed 10 points. They entered half with a 33-22 lead. The Yellow Jackets came back in the second half hot and dropped 24 points in the fourth quarter sealing the win.
 
On the night, the team hit 26-60 (43.3 percent) including 12 three pointers shooting 40 percent from downtown. At the charity stripe, the team shot 61.5 percent (8-13). Most impressive on the night was the 18 steals the team recorded.
 
The Yellow Jackets had four scorers in double digits and had three athletes post three steals a piece. Racquel Wientjes lead the team with 13 points shooting 5-8, she also recorded 3 steals. Close behind was Danica Kocer with 12 points and two steals. She shot 66 percent on the night. Abby Switzer recorded 11 points and racked up three steals. She shot 66 percent from the field. Ashlee Beacom was good for 10 points and was perfect on the night. Ashley Davis  provided huge momentum boosts recording three steals
 
The Yellow Jackets take to the road next weekend on a three game road trip to wrap up the regular season. Next weekend they face CO Mines on Friday at 6:00pm and UCCS on Saturday at 5:30pm
