Golden, CO –  The Black Hills State University women's basketball team defeated the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers 55-48. The Yellow Jackets are now 13-7 in RMAC play and 16-9 on the season.
Â
Strong first quarter shooting and a balanced attack from
Racquel Wientjes and
Morgan Ham were enough to lift the Yellow Jackets over the Orediggers. The Yellow Jackets were hot in the first 10 minutes of play, scoring 17 points shooting 60 percent from the field including 3 for 5 from downtown. They entered half with a 31-20 lead. The Orediggers tried to chip their way back in third, as they shut down BHSU's offense only allowing six points. Ultimately, it wasn't a threat as the Green and Gold came back in the fourth to drop 18 points.
Â
Overall, the team shot 18 for 46 (39%) from the field, including 7 of 18 (38.9%) from beyond the arc. They shot 75 percent (12 of 16) at the charity stripe.
