Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University Triathlon team has received Team Academic All-American honors from the College Triathlon Coaches Association. To receive this prestigious honor, the team had to have a cumulative GPA in the top five of all schools that competed at the National Championship. This means the Yellow Jacket Triathlon team had one of the highest cumulative GPA's of any school in the nation in all divisions including NCAA DI, DII, and DIII.

Additionally, four individual triathletes received Scholar All-American honors. Criteria was to be in top 20 finishers at the National Championships and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The award winners are Mathilde Bernard, Myna Buckley, Hannah Hirschi, and Chelsea Basford.

Bernard is an Elementary Education major and she lead the Yellow Jackets at the championship placing sixth overall.

Buckley, Hirschi, and Basford are all Exercise Science majors. At the National Championship, Basford and Buckley finished neck and neck to take 13th and 14th. Hirschi was close behind in 18th.
 
Kennedy Teeslink received Scholar All-American honorable mention. Criteria was to compete at National Championships and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher but not finish in top 20. She is majoring in Elementary Education.

Following a team Division II podium finish at the National Championship in November, the Green and Gold have resumed full time training as they focus on their spring season.
