Spearfish, SD – In another big scoring night, the Black Hills State University women's basketball team defeated the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls 85-51. With the weekend sweep, the Yellow Jackets move to 14-8 on the season and 11-6 in the RMAC.
In what started out as a balanced game, the Yellow Jackets quickly pulled away in the first quarter to lead 26-14. They held the cowgirls to just 11 points in the second quarter to lead 46-25 at half. The Green and Gold came out hot the second half and scored another 26 points holding NMHU to just ten. Sharing the playing time in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets backed off the offensive and scored 13 points to win 85-51.
On the night, the team was 29 for 55 from the field including another impressive 13 for 27 from downtown. They also were near perfect at the charity stripe hitting 14 of 16 shots.
Racquel Wientjes again lead the scoring, shooting 5 for 7 from beyond the arc and perfect at the free throw line, all good for 19 points.
Morgan Ham posted 13 points shooting sixty percent on the night.
Niki Van Wyk was good for 11 points as she was three for three from beyond the arc. Norra Parttimaa was also in double digits scoring ten points.
The Green and Gold are home again next weekend for the final home games of the regular season. They host MSU Denver and Chadron State.
