MBB: Scott, Oliver Named First Team, Whitley Second Team All-RMAC

Colorado Springs, CO – Three members of the Black Hills State University men's basketball team were named to the All-RMAC team lists.

Joel Scott and Tyler Oliver were named first team All-RMAC while Trey Whitley was named second team All-RMAC.

Scott played in 29 games this season, posting double digits in 26 games. He led the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game which was fourth best in the conference this year. He averaged a phenomenal 59.7 percent from the field and was the second most consistent shooter in the RMAC this year. He also was good for 49.3% from beyond the arc and averaged 6.0 rebounds per game. At the free throw line he was good for about 72 percent.

"Joel is having an impressive freshman year and is playing well beyond his age," said head coach Ryan Thompson.  "I thought Joel was one of the most consistent and effective players in the entire RMAC this season."

Tyler Oliver played in 28 games this season and was the fourth best rebounder in the league averaging 6.7 per game. He also averaged 4.4 assists per game which is fifth best in the conference. He was also good for 43 percent from the field averaging 12.7 ppg.

"Tyler has had a great two year run as a Yellow Jacket, and he deserves a lot of the credit for our team's success over the past two seasons," said Thompson.  "I felt that Tyler impacted the game on both ends of the court as well as anyone in the RMAC.  He is one of the most competitive players I've been around, and we are proud to see him receiving the recognition he deserves as a first team all-RMAC player."

Trey Whitley was the 14th best shooter in the RMAC this year shooting 49.2 percent averaging 14.8 ppg over his 29 games played this season. He was most impressive at the charity stripe this season hitting 77 of 88 attempts (87%) which was second best in the conference.

"From the day Trey arrived on our campus, he has been extremely coachable and has never stopped improving," said Thompson.  "Trey has had some monster games throughout our season despite the amount of attention he drew from our opponents.  We are all excited that he is being recognized as one of the top 20 players in the RMAC."
