Cross Country Competes in Gage McSpadden Memorial

9/18/2020 8:30:00 PM

The Black Hills State University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the fifth annual Gage McSpadden Memorial Friday afternoon.

Competing against South Dakota Mines the Yellow Jackets were able to have runners come across the finish line first in both races.

To start the night the women took the course and the Yellow Jackets had both the first and second place finishers. Crossing the finish line first was junior Xiomara Robinson and following closely behind was junior Ruby Lindquist.

Following the women, the men took the course and Junior Keith Osowski crossed the finish line first.

Sheriff 5K Postponed
The annual Sheriff 5K community run/walk that has traditionally followed the Gage McSpadden Memorial has been postponed this year due to safety precautions surrounding COVID-19 concerns.

The Sheriff 5K has been held in conjunction with the cross country event each of the last four years to honor former student-athlete Gage McSpadden, who, a then-member of the BHSU cross country program, tragically passed in the summer of 2015. Although there will be no community run/walk, there is still the opportunity to donate at https://app.mobilecause.com/f/2y9w/n?vid=bowvu
