RAPID CITY, S.D. – Black Hills State women's soccer finished Friday's match in a 2-2 tie against Adams State at Dakota Fields.
The Yellow Jackets (2-7-1, 1-5-1 RMAC) put up 20 shots to ASU's 22 and 10 saves to their eight.
Emma Avery and
Gabbi Nowodworski each scored goals in the game. Avery totaled five shots and three on goal, while Nowodworski tallied four shots and one on goal.
Halle Wibbels had three shots, two on goal, and
Madison Kandler and
Darby Whiteley each had two shots.
Goalkeeper
Makayla Dannelly grabbed 10 saves against 22 shots faced.
Both teams traded shots early in the half before Avery found the net at 10:03, assisted by Buckley to go ahead 1-0. The Grizzlies answered at the 18-minute mark to lock the score at 1-1.
Nowodworski put the Yellow Jackets back on top with a goal at 22:06 in the first to give BHSU a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Six minutes out of the half, Adams State scored again to lock the score at two-all. The teams traded shots through the rest of regulation and the game went into overtime.
Wibbels and
Ella Goodman each had shots in the first period of regulation before the match entered double overtime still locked at 2-2. In the final seconds of the second overtime period, Whitely got a good look to the net, getting a final shot off that just missed inches high before the clock expired and the game ended in a draw.

The Yellow Jackets take the pitch again on Sunday, Oct. 17 in Spearfish at 11 a.m. against New Mexico Highlands.
