COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State women's track and field was picked to finish 7th while the men were picked to finish 8th in the RMAC 2021-22 Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, as released by the league office Friday afternoon.

Last season the Yellow Jacket women had their highest RMAC Championship finish in program history with a third-place finish tallying 86 points, while the men placed eighth at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with 30 points.

The track and field programs combined to total 11 provisional marks throughout the indoor season last year, the most in school history, and had four events earn bids to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships including the women's distance medley relay (
Ruby Lindquist,
Mikayla Tracy,
Taylor Lundquist, and
Xiomara Robinson), women's weight throw (
Kyla Sawvell), women's shot put (
Kyla Sawvell), and the women's mile (
Xiomara Robinson).

Heading into the 2021-22 season the women's track and field team has 16 returners while the men return 22 student-athletes.

The women's track and field team will be welcoming nine newcomers to the fold while the men welcome 16 new student-athletes.

For the women University of Colorado – Colorado Springs was picked to finish first racking up 141 points and tallying nine first-place votes. Colorado School of Mines came in second with 117 points and two first-place votes, while Western Colorado was picked to finish third with 115 points and two first-place votes.

For the men University of Colorado – Colorado Springs was picked to finish first with 119 points and nine first-place votes. Colorado School of Mines was picked second with 110 points and two first-place votes, while Adams State was picked third on the men's side with 91 points and one first-place vote.
