Black Hills State softball will begin its 2021 season with a pair of double-headers against New Mexico Highlands on Sunday and Monday in Castle Rock, Colo.
The Yellow Jackets will play two on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and a pair on Monday, March 1 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. at Metzler Ranch Community Park in Castle Rock.
Softball hasn't taken the field in nearly a year, last playing March 8, 2020 in a loss to Adams State. BHSU finished 4-15 overall and 3-9 in the RMAC last season with wins against Minot State, Fort Lewis and Adams State in what ended up being a 19-game, shortened-season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
NMHU has had to endure the same break in play, falling to Metro State last March 8. The Cowboys finished last season at 2-22 overall and 1-11 in conference.
The two teams haven't played since March 30 and 31 of 2018, in which they split a four-game set.
All-time, the Yellow Jackets are 2-14 against NHMU, losing the first 14 straight matchups, but winning the last two in 2018.
