Softball Drops Twin Bill at Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Black Hills State softball fell 11-5 and 13-5 in its two games at Adams State Thursday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets move to 2-7 on the season, both overall and in the RMAC

Crystal Amaral started game one, tossing six innings and striking out six. At the plate, she combined to go 4-5 with a double and a home run, driving in three over both games.

Baileigh Hubbard went 2-6 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

Bell Luebken went 2-6 with a double, a run scored and a walk.

Game One (L, 11-5)
After a quiet first inning, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second after an RBI single from McKayla Perry drove in Hubbard.

Adams State would answer, though, putting up a 7-spot in the bottom of the second, using a pair of doubles and home runs to move ahead 7-1. BHSU got two runs back in the third when Amaral slugged a double down the left field line to score Luebken and Lizzy Johnson.

The Yellow Jackets tacked on one more in the fifth with a Hubbard double and another in the sixth on a Halie Litwin pinch-hit solo home run, but they would fall 11-5.

Game Two (L, 13-5)
Adams State got on the board first with a two-run home run in the first, but in the second the Yellow Jackets would load the bases for Bryce Henricksen who ripped a two-run double to tie the game at 2-2. Gianna Haley followed with a two-run single to left to put BHSU ahead 4-2.

The Grizzlies used an eight-run second to move back ahead 10-4. BHSU added one on an Ameral solo home run but would go on to lose 13-5.
