3/5/2021 11:21:00 AM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State men's basketball sophomore Tommy Donovan has been named the winner of the 2020-21 RMAC Men's Basketball Summit Award, as announced by the conference Friday morning.

Donovan is a guard who excels both on and off the court. In the classroom, Donovan holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in the Political Science program at BHSU, while he has also been a valuable asset to the Yellow Jackets on the court.

He started in each of the Yellow Jackets' first four games of the season while the team was getting back to full health, and has since played a role in every game off the bench. He's averaging 19.9 minutes, 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, and is tied at 21st in the conference with eight steals this season.

The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA), participating at the finals site for each of the RMAC's championships. All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above, who participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the championship. Graduate students are not eligible.

Donovan will be recognized prior to the start of tonight's RMAC Tournament semifinal match-up.
