CLEVELAND, Ohio – Black Hills State athletics had 60 student-athletes who earned the 2021 Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award.
The D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the DII level.
Here is the breakdown of how many student-athletes earned the recognition by sport:
Football: 11
Volleyball: 8
Women's Soccer: 4
Men's Basketball: 2
Women's Basketball: 6
M/W Cross Country: 8
M/W Track & Field: 11
Softball: 4
Women's Golf: 2
Women's Triathlon: 4
In total, there were a record breaking 16,262 student-athletes from 188 institutions recognized for the 2020-21 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the award's program.
In order to be eligible for the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work, and must have been a member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
