Black Hills State football returns home this Saturday, Sept. 25 to host Adams State at 1 p.m.
This will be BHSU's first Beef Bowl game, sponsored by the South Dakota Beef Industry Council. The contest will also be the Homecoming game for the Yellow Jackets, capping BHSU's Swarm Week.
Last Time Out: Black Hills State football made a push in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Thunderwolves 16-3, but ultimately fell 19-16 last Saturday at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl.
Kielar Harpham led the team in receiving, scoring a touchdown on six catches for 88 yards.
Matthew Collier scored a touchdown on the ground, rushing for 50 yards on 15 attempts.
Nolan Susel added 64 yards on 10 rushing attempts as the Yellow Jackets totaled 153 yards on the ground compared to CSU Pueblo's 118 yards.
Chance Eben completed 17 of 26 passing attempts for 204 yards and a touchdown.
Hasaan Williams had four catches for 61 yards, and also hauled in a pair of passes in the end zone on both successful 2-point attempts.
Adams State: The Grizzlies are 0-3 to start the season, having faced Western New Mexico, Eastern New Mexico and Western Colorado. ASU was picked to finish seventh, receiving one first-place vote in this year's RMAC Preseason Poll. The team finished with a 4-7 record in 2019.
Series History: This will be the eight meeting all time between the two programs, and the first in over two years, last playing Sept. 21, 2019. BHSU is 2-5 against the Grizzlies since their first game in 2013. The Yellow Jackets earned their two wins in 2016 and 2017.
Weather Forecast: According to the 10-day weather forecast, the weather on Saturday, September 25 in Spearfish, S.D. projects to be clear with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 48.

Off to a Good Start: With their two wins to open the 2021 season, the Yellow Jackets are off to a 2-1 record, their best start since the 2016 season when they started 3-0 and finished 7-4.
First for Breske
Since being hired on as head coach in 2019,
Josh Breske had only 2 games under his belt entering the 2021 season. After a wait of nearly two years, Breske earned the first win of his head coaching career on Sept. 2 in a 30-24 victory over Dickinson State.
Career Game for Collier
RB
Matthew Collier entered this year with a career-best 19 rushing yards in a game against CSU Pueblo in 2019. He shattered that in the 2021 season opener against Dickinson State, rushing for 125 yards, while adding 40 receiving yards (also a career-best) and scoring the first, and second touchdowns of his career.
