CHADRON, Neb. - The Black Hills State women's volleyball team fell to the Chadron State Eagles in five sets falling 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC Friday night winning set one and set two 25-22, falling in set three 20-25, falling in set four 26-28, and falling in set five 15-17.

Madison Hoopman led the team with 22Â kills.

Karly Marx was the assist leader with 38 assists.

Kindra Cerrone and
Haedyn Rhoades led the Yellow Jackets in digs with 17 apiece.

Five Yellow Jackets each had an ace in the match up including
Karly Marx,
Haedyn Rhoades,
Kindra Cerrone,
Brooke Franklin, and
Peyton Bodemann.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start in the first set going up 14-7 early in the match behind a strong front attack led by
Mariah Robinson. The Eagles would rally back bringing the score within one at 18-17 in favor of BHSU. The Eagles would stay competitive with the Yellow Jackets through the end of the set however BHSU would walk away with the set victory 25-22 behind a kill by
Madison Hoopman, her sixth of the set.

The Yellow Jackets and Eagles would keep it close through much of the second set being tied 12 times before the Yellow Jackets would score four straight points to take an 18-15 lead over the Eagles. Chadron would tie things up again at 18 all before the Yellow Jackets would go on a 7-4 run to take the set two victory 25-22.

The Eagles took a quick lead in the third set going up 10-5 over the Yellow Jackets forcing a Yellow Jacket time out. Coming out of the time out the Eagles would stay hot going up by as much as seven points over the Yellow Jackets. BHSU would chip away at the Eagles lead but would be unable to come back falling in set three 20-25 while holding a 2-1 set lead.

The Yellow Jackets and Eagles battled through the beginning of the first set with the score being tied five times until the teams were tied up at 8 all. The Eagles would then outscore the Yellow Jackets 3-0 and hold onto that lead and increase it to as much as six points before the Yellow Jackets would fight back point by point putting up five straight points to tie the score at 24 all. The Eagles would score another point and think the game was all wrapped up before a challenge by Coach Carmichael would tie the score at 25 all after a block error by the Eagles. The Eagles would ultimately take the set four victory 28-26 over BHSU.

The fifth set was a battle between the two teams with the score being tied up 12 times throughout the match. The last time the teams would be tied up would be at 15 all before the Eagles would drop two more points to take the set and match victory winning set five 17-15 over the Yellow Jackets.
