GOLDEN, Colo. - Black Hills State women's basketball team fell to #16 Colorado Mines 67-55 Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (7-7, 5-3 RMAC) had two double digit scorers in the contest with
Ashley Davis leading the way tallying 11 points and
Morgan Hammerbeck close behind with 10.

Defensively
Ashlee Beacom led the team with eight rebounds while Davis and
Summer Fox were each able to record three steals.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a slow offensive start in Lockridge arena Saturday afternoon after the Orediggers got out to an early 7-0 lead. BHSU got on the board with after a 3-pointer by
Ashlee Beacom at 7:33. As a team the Yellow Jackets were able to slow the Orediggers down but couldn't heat up offensively setting the score at 17-7 in favor of Colorado Mines at the end of the quarter.

Points were at a minimum to start the second quarter with neither team heating up offensively until midway through the quarter. The Yellow Jackets and Orediggers would trade points to close out the quarter with Colorado Mines holding a 36-22 lead at the break.

Play in the third quarter opened with both teams trading points and the Orediggers taking as much as a 19-point lead over the Yellow Jackets; however, with just under three minutes to play the Yellow Jackets would go on an 11-4 run to close out the quarter to set up the end of quarter score of 52-40.

The fourth quarter brought evenly matched play from both teams as the Yellow Jackets and Orediggers each scored 15 points. The 12-point deficit BHSU carried into the quarter was too much for the Yellow Jackets to overcome setting up the final score of 67-55.

As a team BHSU shot 36.2% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc. At the charity stripe the Yellow Jackets made 16 of 21 free throws for a 76.2 shooting percentage.
