Black Hills State women's basketball defeated Chadron State Tuesday night 57-45 in the Donald E. Young Center.

The Yellow Jackets (8-7, 6-3 RMAC) shot 41.0% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc in their victory over the Eagles.

Danica Kocer and
Megan Engesser led the way on offense recording 12 points each.

Haylee Weathersby led the team on defense pulling in six rebounds while
Niki Van Wyk snagged three steals.

The Yellow Jackets got out to an early lead behind a
Megan Engesser three under a minute into the first quarter. Although the Eagles kept things close in the opening quarter of play BHSU maintained a lead throughout the quarter holding a 14-10 lead at the break.

A 14-2 run to open the second quarter would put the Yellow Jackets up 28-12. BHSU stayed hot through the remainder of the half taking an 18-point lead into the break, up 36-18.

The Eagles came out hot after halftime going on a 13-3 run to open the half setting the score at 39-31 still in favor of BHSU. The Yellow Jackets put five more points on the board to round out the quarter to set the score at 44-31 going into the final 10 minutes of play.

The Yellow Jackets and Eagles played an evenly matched final quarter with BHSU coming out on top after maintaining their lead throughout the quarter. The Yellow Jackets would go on to win 57-45.

BHSU made 16 of their 39 shots from the field and made 10 of 23 3-point attempts. At the charity stripe the Yellow Jackets shot 62.5% making 15 of 24 free throw attempts.
