No. 9/18 Colorado Mines Bests Yellow Jackets

GOLDEN, Colo. – Black Hills State football dropped its Saturday matchup with the No. 9/18 Orediggers, 38-0.

The Yellow Jackets (5-3, 3-3 RMAC) were up against a tough CSM squad, but were able to refrain from surrendering a turnover while putting up 146 yards of total offense.

The defense showed good pressure, totaling four sacks in the ballgame, but the offense was held to 0-for-13 on third downs.

Doodles and Nicc Quinones each notched a sack in the game while Ryder Blair also had one for a 10-yard loss.

Keenan Eck rounded out the team's four sacks in the game, giving him 5.5 total sacks on the year in his impressive freshman campaign.

Blair led the way with nine total tackles, while Nicc Quinones had eight, Bailey Rosenstrauch had seven and Doodles Quinones made six.

On offense, Nolan Susel ran 15 times for 57 net yards on the ground, while Hasaan Williams led the receivers with seven catches for 73 yards.

Quarterback Chance Eben completed 16 of 25 pass attempts for 107 yards.

CSM went ahead early with a pair of first quarter touchdowns as the Orediggers held a 14-0 lead through the opening quarter.

Later, down 24-0 in the second, the Yellow Jacket offense converted a 4th-and-1 in the final minutes before halftime to continue a drive that got BHSU into field goal range, but the 48-yard attempt went wide left to keep the score at 24-0.

The Orediggers would tack on one more score before halftime to take a 31-0 lead into the locker room.

After receiving the second half kick, BHSU was able to put together a 12-play drive, but the stingy defense of CSM continued to hold the Yellow Jackets scoreless.

Near the end of the third, the BHSU defense held the Orediggers to a 4th-and 8 before a Blair sacks 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage led to a turnover on downs to give the offense an opportunity at its own 44-yard line.

CSM scored one more time in the fourth to extend their lead and eventually win by a score of 38-0.
