Black Hills State women's soccer produced chances Wednesday afternoon but dropped its final match of the season to Metro State, 4-0.
The Yellow Jackets (1-13-2, 1-11 RMAC) totaled seven shots on the day, including two each from
Emma Avery and
Alexa Buckley.
Avery had a shot on goal, as did
Sophie Brassard in her lone shot of the game.
Darby Whiteley and
Kayla Osegueda each also tallied a shot in the match.
Defensively,
Makayla Dannelly continued her strong season between the pipes, hauling in 11 saves on 29 total shots faced, 15 of which were on goal.
Dannelly finishes the season leading the RMAC with total saves (97) and saves per game (6.93). She entered the game sitting 21st in the nation with her saves per game average.
MSUD got out to a quick start with three shots in the opening five minutes of play, the third of which found the net to give them a 1-0 lead.
Avery, Brassard and Osegueda all tallied shots in the first half, but the Roadrunners entered the second half with a 3-0 advantage.
Metro State added on with a goal in the 52nd minute to extend to a 4-0 lead early in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets were able to give themselves chances with Buckley shots in the 67th and 71st minute. Whiteley was able to get one final shot off in the final seconds, but it just missed wide right as the game went final at 4-0.
