SPEARFISH, S.D. – Yellow Jacket volleyball returns to Donald E. Young Center for the first time in 18 days as they take on Colorado Mesa and Westminster (Utah) this weekend.
Black Hills State is returning home off a long, four game stretch that started on Sept. 20 against South Dakota Mines (W, 3-0) and ended with a tough matchup against the No. 2 MSU Denver (L, 3-0) on Oct. 1. The Yellow Jackets will be looking to secure their first home win of the season, as both wins on the season for the Yellow Jackets were clinched on the road. Senior outside hitter
Madison Hoopman is only three kills away from hitting a major career milestone at 1000 kills, which would make her the ninth Yellow Jacket in BHSU volleyball history to hit the mark.

The Mavericks are currently 19
th in national rankings and sits tied for fourth in the RMAC as well. CMU comes to town on a three-win streak, outscoring opponents 9-1 over their last three against Colorado Christian (3-0), Fort Lewis (3-0), and Western Colorado (3-1), respectively. The losses the Mavericks took were all from top eight teams in the nation, including MSU Denver (L, 3-0 across two matchups), the University of Tampa (L, 3-2), and Southwest Minnesota State (L, 3-2). First serve is set for Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
The last time the Yellow Jackets and the Mavericks met was on Oct. 15, 2021 in and saw CMU take down BHSU 3-1 in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Griffins are coming off a split-weekend last week as they beat Western Colorado in three sets on Friday, Sept. 30, then dropped a dramatic Saturday matchup against Fort Lewis on Oct. 1 (L, 3-1). Westminster College is looking to answer for their loss last Saturday, taking a trip to face South Dakota Mines before stopping at the Donald E. Young Center on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m.
The last time the Yellow Jackets faced off against Westminster was on Oct. 16, 2021 and saw the Yellow Jackets fall to the Griffins in three straight.
