Triathlon Signs Two for 2023

Black Hills State women's triathlon and head coach Connie Feist have announced the signings of two new student-athletes for the 2023 season.

Just ahead of the 2022 NCAA Nationals race on Saturday, the triathlon program has announced it has signed Anna Austad and Sydney Campbell for the 2023 season.

Anna Austad – Columbine H.S. – 5-6, Littleton, Colo.
Austad competed in both cross country and swimming in high school, lettering all four years and making First Team All-Conference all four years. She also competed in golf, earning First Team All-Conference all four years on that team as well.

She was captain of her 2022 cross country team, also being named Gold Crown High School golf athlete, Cross Country All-Region, and Academic First Team All-State in all three sports as a senior. Her junior year, she helped her swim team win a league championship, and earned the Gold Crown in golf, and Academic First Team All-State across the board.

"Anna is a well-rounded multi-sport athlete with swimming, running and triathlon experience," said Head Coach Connie Feist. "We expect her to adapt very well to our training program, and she is a great fit for our team."

Sydney Campbell – Sioux Falls Christian Schools – 5-7, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Campbell was a four-year letterwinner in cross country and a three-year in track. In her senior year, she helped her team win state after placing third at the state meet as a junior.

She was the 2022 SD Tri Series 19-and-under Champion and finished eighth overall among women, and finished in second in the 19-and-under in 2021. Campbell was also an Academic Letter Recipient all four years.

"Sydney brings a great attitude and work ethic to our team," added Feist. "She is dedicated to becoming a competitive collegiate triathlete and we are looking forward to helping her achieve her goals."
