POCATELLO, Idaho – Black Hills State women's basketball traveled to Pocatello on Friday night and fell short in a tightly contested exhibition matchup against the Idaho State Bengals, 45-39.
BHSU held their own in the contest, with both teams holding razor thin margins in each quarter. Idaho State held an 11-6 and 10-12 lead in the first and second quarters, respectively, to take a 23-16 lead into halftime.
The Yellow Jackets came out of the break to outscore the Bengals 12-11 in the third, though, behind big shots from
Megan Engesser and
Morgan Hammerbeck. Then the fourth quarter saw an 11-11 tie as
Niki Van Wyk and
Danica Kocer came up big at the charity stripe.
Although BHSU outscored them 23-22 in the second half, the Bengals held on for the 45-39 win.

The Yellow Jackets return home to the Donald E. Young Center next weekend to kick off their regular season with four home games, the first taking place on Friday, Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. against Texas A&M International.
