CHADRON, Neb. – Black Hills State softball dropped Friday's doubleheader to Chadron State, 2-0 and 11-4 after cold temperatures led to a three-hour delay of game one.
The Yellow Jackets (10-24, 8-24 RMAC) had a strong performance in the circle from
Crystal Amaral in game one, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six.
In game two,
Gianna Haley had a big day at the plate as she finished 2-3 with two RBI.
Game One (L, 2-0)
Chadron State used a solo home run in the first to take an early 1-0 lead.
Shayla Tuschen would tally a single in the fourth and Amaral hit a single in the sixth, but that would be all the offense the Yellow Jackets managed in game one.
The Eagles added one more in the seventh as BHSU went on to fall, 2-0.
Game Two (L, 11-4)
Chadron State struck first again in game two, scoring three in the first and two in the second to move ahead 5-0 through two innings.
Down 6-0 in the third, an Amaral RBI single and a 2-RBI single from
Gianna Haley made it a 3-run game as BHSU brought the score to 6-3.
The Yellow Jackets continued to chip away at the Eagle lead, adding another in the fifth on an
Autumn Porter RBI single.
CSC added to their lead in the seventh, though, taking an 11-4 lead before eventually winning by that score.
