GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Black Hills State softball fell 5-1 and 16-0 in Saturday's doubleheader with No. 23 Colorado Mesa.
The Yellow Jackets' (10-18, 8-18 RMAC) scattered five hits against the top team in the RMAC, including a solo blast from
Crystal Amaral in game one.
Game One (L, 5-1)
Amaral held the Mavericks, who average over seven runs per game, to only five runs in game one while helping herself out with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Down 4-0 in the sixth, Amaral's home run made it a 4-1 ballgame, but CMU would get one back in their half of the sixth and eventually win 5-1.
Game Two (L, 16-0)
CMU got out to a quick 6-0 lead in game two and wouldn't look back.
The Yellow Jackets managed three hits in the game with
Bell Luebken,
Gianna Haley and
Tyler Whitlock all finishing 1-2 with singles, but CMU would eventually win 16-0.
