DENVER, Colo. – Yellow Jacket Volleyball fell to No. 19 Regis on the road in three sets.
Madison Hoopman recorded five kills and six digs against the Rangers, while
Kindra Cerrone sat right behind her with a four kill and four dig performance.
Karly Marx recorded 10 assists, leading the team in that category.
Haedyn Rhoades recorded 11 digs during this afternoon's game. The Yellow Jackets as a team recorded five service aces on the day, with Marx leading the ace count with three of her own, followed by Rhoades and
Audrey Brgoch each recording one.
Set One (L, 25-15): Set one began with competitive scoring between both teams, with two lead changes leading into a 9-7 Regis lead. The Rangers held at least two points over BHSU during the next few exchanges but eventually jumped ahead with a four-score run to go up to go up 19-13. After a Yellow Jacket point coming from a Ranger serving error, Regis tacked on a five-score run to go up 24-14, ending the game after a last minute effort point
Abigail Renner.
Set Two (L, 25-12): Set two also started competitive with both teams going back and forth into a 5-4 set, but Regis would run away with the set as they went up 12-4 before the Yellow Jackets would put up a responding score. Regis continued and put up a six-score series to go up 18-5. At this point, Regis began to slip, making mistakes on their side of the net and made way for Marx (2) and Brgoch to score on three service aces to put the Yellow Jackets at a 20-11 deficit. The Regis lead would be too much for BHSU to mount on any momentum as the Rangers would put the set away shortly after.
Set Three (L, 25-11): The Yellow Jackets would open up on a Marx service ace to start on good footing in set three, riding into a 5-3 lead over the Rangers. After tying the game at 6-all Regis would mount another offensive attack and take an 11-6 lead over BHSU. The Yellow Jackets fought hard to bring the game back to a 14-10 deficit. The remainder of the set was all Regis as they would hold the Yellow Jackets to one point to finish the final set.
