Black Hills State football opens its 2022 home slate on Saturday as the team is ready to host William Jewell College.
This game is the second of a two-year series that included last year's matchup in Liberty, Mo.
The Yellow Jackets finished last year at 4-7 overall and 2-7 in the RMAC. After a hot start to go 4-1 to begin the year, tough conference opponents down the stretch caused issues for the young team.
BHSU started this season with it's 17-2 season opener victory over Dickinson State on Thursday, Sept. 1 which included some late offense with touchdowns from
Nolan Susel and
Mitch McKibbin.
This is the second straight season the Yellow Jackets have started 1-0 after starting 4-1 to open the 2021 season.
The defense played well, allowing only two points and 289 yards of total offense, including only 14 yards rushing.
William Jewell (0-1)
The Cardinals have lost 25 straight games dating back over three years to Sept. 7, 2019 when they defeated Southwest Baptist University 29-9.
WJC opened the 2022 season last week, falling to Colorado Mesa on Thursday, Sept. 1 by a score of 37-14. The WJC defense surrendered points in every quarter and allowed two touchdowns in each the first and second quarter to go down 28-0 before scoring a touchdown of their own before halftime.
