COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference offices released the 2023-24 Preseason Coaches' poll on Wednesday morning, which saw the Black Hills State women's basketball team rank fifth in the conference heading into the new season.
The Yellow Jackets secured 143 points in the poll from the votes of all 15 women's basketball coaches across the RMAC.
In 2022-23, the Yellow Jackets finished with an overall 23-8 mark that included all playoff appearances and a 17-5 conference record.
Both marks were DII Era highs for the squad, with the ladies' win percentage last season (.742) marking the highest record since BHSU became DII Eligible in 2013, and their 17-5 RMAC record being the highest the Yellow Jackets have recorded since the 2015-16 season.
The Green N' Gold ladies will return 12 players from last season's roster while adding four new faces to the team, including a junior transfer and three freshman players signed in the spring.
BHSU returns to the court this season on Tuesday, Nov. 14 as they travel to North Dakota to take on UMary at 6 p.m. CDT (5 p.m. MDT).
