Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Soccer Plays Tough in Loss to WCU

Black Hills State women's soccer dropped its final home game of the season to Western Colorado, 2-0 Sunday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (3-10-2, 1-7-2 RMAC) tallied eight shots, including three on goal in the match.

Hailey Warren saw two shots, both on goal, while Jayda Hammer also put up two shots with one being on goal.

Lexi Crow, Leah Day, Lena Homan and Audrey Sillanpaa each finished with one shot on the day.

In the box, Morgan Wood faced 15 shots and totaled five saves.

BHSU controlled the ball for most of the first half, with Homan getting the team's first look of the game with a shot in ninth minute.

In the 25th minute, Sophie Brassard found Hammer for an open look who put up a shot on goal that was saved by the WCU keeper.

Day got another shot off for the Yellow Jackets in the 33rd minute, before WCU put together a shot to the corner of the net that was stopped by a diving Wood as the game remained scoreless into halftime.

Out of the break, a Western free kick just outside of the box led to two shots that ended up being blocked by the Yellow Jacket defense in the 56th minute to hold onto the scoreless tie.

WCU would get on the board a few minutes later with a goal in the 61st minute, though, putting them up 1-0.

Warren recorded a shot on goal in the 62nd minute and then Crow and Hammer were able to get shots off in the 74th and 76th minutes as BHSU worked to try and even things up.

In the 80th minute, on another WCU shot off a free kick just outside of the box, Wood was able to snatch the ball up for a save to keep it a 1-0 game.

Warren put up one more shot for BHSU in the 89th minute, but WCU iced the game with a goal in the final minute to win 2-0.
