Rhoades and Renner Named All-RMAC

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference offices announced the All-Conference players and rosters on Wednesday morning and have named Black Hills State volleyball's Haedyn Rhoades and Abigail Renner as All-RMAC Honorable Mention players.

Haedyn Rhoades, Sr., Libero
Senior libero Haedyn Rhoades made a big splash in her final season as a player, playing and starting in all 26 games for the Yellow Jackets in 2023.

It was a season of career milestones for the senior as she became the all-time BHSU career digs leader against UMary on Sept. 2., surpassing Lacy Stevens, who recorded 1,771 digs from 2012-2016. 10 games later, Rhoades became the first Yellow Jacket in program history to reach 2000 digs against South Dakota Mines on Sept. 29 and has finished the season with 2,223 total career digs, recording 469 of them this year.

Rhoades also finished the season with 104 career service aces, which places her fifth in all-time program history. The senior surpassed Debbie Sigman, who played with the Yellow Jackets from 1995-1998 and recorded 103 service aces in her career.

In the RMAC standings, Rhoades finished the season as the conference leader in digs with her average of 4.79 digs per set, marking the second year in a row she has been in the top spot of the RMAC. Nationally, Rhoades ranks 49th in digs per set and 57th in total digs as of this release.

The 2023 campaign marks the fourth year in a row that Rhoades has been named an All-Conference player, with the senior receiving her first nod in 2020 as Second Team All-RMAC and was named an honorable mention player in 2021 and 2022.

Abigail Renner, Jr., Outside Hitter
Abigail Renner stepped up in a big way for the Yellow Jackets during the 2023 season as she ended the season as BHSU's top hitter, leading the team with 318 season kills (3.24 kills per set) as a consistent starter and player in all 26 games for the Yellow Jackets.

The junior out of Lander, Wyoming came out of the 2023 season as one of the top scorers in the conference, ranking sixth with 366.5 points scored (3.74 points per set). Renner also landed eighth in RMAC kills, with the outside hitter landing 318 kills on the year to average 3.24 per frame.

In the final home weekend for the Yellow Jackets, on Friday, Nov. 3, Renner tallied her 500th career kill against Chadron State and sits at 535 by season's end.

Over the course of the 2023 campaign, Renner tallied career-highs in nearly every statistical category available: she tallied 23 kills against Western Colorado on Oct. 7, recorded five service aces in two matches, went low for 20 digs against Montana State – Billings on Sept. 8, and recorded five blocks against Colorado Mines on Oct. 14 (she also recorded a career-high five block assists in that game). Renner also finished the year with a career-high 28 service aces.

Her All-RMAC honorable mention status marks the first All-Conference accolade for Renner, who is a two-time RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll student.
