SPEARFISH, S.D. – The 2023-24 Black Hills State men's and women's Indoor Track & Field slate is set to continue in earnest this weekend when they host their second meet of the season with the Myrle Hansen Open inside the Donald E. Young Center Fieldhouse.

JACKETS TO NOTE
Watch for the men's 60m dash participants of Mason Sartain (Sr., Bonneyville, Alberta, Canada), Jace Johnson (Fr., Rapid City, S.D.), and Brendan Flock (Fr., Torrington, Wyo.).  
 
Sartain led the team with his third-place finish at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Open in December, with a time of 6.98 – being just 0.13 seconds off the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III automatic qualifying mark (6.85).
 
The freshman duo of Johnson and Flock took sixth- and seventh-place, respectively, in their first collegiate meet separated by less than 0.05 seconds from one another. Johnson finished with a time of 7.14, followed on the heels by Flock with a 7.18 time.
 
Tim Brown (Jr., Sheridan, Wyo.) is set to compete in his first race since the 2023 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships back in November. Brown will compete in the Distance Medley Relay for the first time in a regular season meet, his previous three times running the event has been at the indoor Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Indoor Championships the last three seasons.  
 
On the women's side, keep an eye on Hanah Sullivan (So., Sheridan, Wyo.) in the weight throw. Coming off a 2023 Second Team All-Conference performer in both the shot put and weight throw in the outdoor season last year, Sullivan looks to continue competing in the weight throw this indoor season.
 
In the first meet of the season, the Sheridan, Wyo. Native took first-place in both the weight throw (15.13m) and shot put (12.59) at the Yellow Jacket Holiday Open (Dec. 2) to open the 2023-24 season.
 
USTFCCCA RANKINGS
The first edition United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor rankings is set to release on Tuesday, January 23.
