SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University Triathlon team garnered academic honors from the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) for their work in the classroom and in competition, posting a team GPA above 3.2 in the fall semester.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes; they not only excel on the race course but also in the classroom," commented head coach
Connie Feist. "They represent BHSU at the highest level in sports and academics and we are thrilled that they are being recognized for their accomplishments with Scholar All-American honors."
Six Black Hills State triathlon team members garnered CTCA Honorable Mention Scholar All-American distinction, holding a GPA of 3.5 or higher, competed at the National Championships, and finished outside the top-20 of their division at the National Championships. The athletes honored include:
Sydney Campbell (Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.)
Sydney Gasper (Jr., Peyton, Colo.)
Jadyn Johnson (So., Spearfish, S.D.)
Natalie Moose-Elkin (Jr., Brandon, S.D.)
Madelynn Potter (Sr., Fort Collins, Colo.)
Cassidy Teeslink (Jr., Rapid City, S.D.)
At all divisions, 33 triathlon teams across the nation were honored with Scholar All-American Teams. At the Division II level, 16 athletes were named Scholar All-Americans and 33 more were Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans.
Black Hills State placed fifth as a team at Nationals in the Division II field back in November.
