BISMARCK, N.D. – After an hour delay early Tuesday morning due to frost on the course at the Hawktree Golf Club, the Black Hills State University women's golf team once again posted one of the top rounds in the program's NCAA Division II history with a score of 334 (+46), tying for eighth in the record books. The second round score, which was the best among competing teams, brought the Yellow Jackets 36-hole score to 703 (+127) for a second place team finish at the Marauder Golf Invite. During the final round of action all five BHSU golfers saw an improvement in their round one to round two scores, including
Leyni Stavola and
Ava Kalanek which both improved their scores by 14 strokes apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With a four stroke improvement from round one to round two for a score of 80 (+8) on Tuesday, Katie Jorgenson secured her second straight third place finish with a 36-hole total of 164 (+20). During the second round of action, she scored par on nine holes and added a birdie on the fifth hole.
- Leyni Stavola tied for the second-best round one to round two stroke improvement among all golfers, seeing an improvement of 14 strokes for a score of 83 (+11) in the final round to bring her 36-hole total to 180 (+36) for a tie for seventh place. She scored par on seven holes during the day at the Hawktree Golf Club and added three birdies during the round.
- Makaela Swanson maintained seventh place on the players leaderboard at the Marauder Golf Invite, tying with her teammate for a 36-hole score of 180 (+36) after she saw a four stroke improvement from round one to round two with a Tuesday score of 88 (+16). She notched a score of par on six holes during the course of the day, including a birdie on the 11th hole.
- Earning a top-10 finish with a tie for ninth and a 36-hole score of 182 (+38), Cami Langley ended the tournament with a ten stroke improvement from round one to round two as she carded an 86 (+14) on the final day of action. She notched scores of par on six holes during the day at the Hawktree Golf Club and added three birdies.
- Rounding out the group of Black Hills State golfers was Ava Kalanek, who also tied for the second-best round one to round two improvement among all golfers, carding a second round score of 85 (+13) which was a 14 stroke improvement that brought her 36-hole total to 184 (+40) for 12th place. She collected scores of par on nine holes during the day.
