HOW IT HAPPENED
- In just the fourth minute of action, Regis broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Madeline Gardner as she drove into the left side of the box for a 10-yard shot, placing it into the right corner of the net.
- While Makayla Dannelly continued to keep Black Hills State in the game with a pair of saves in the tenth and 11th minutes, Anacel Valenzuela-Acosta looked to provide a spark on the offensive side when she placed shots on target in the seventh and 12th minutes.
- In total the Yellow Jackets tallied four shots on frame and saw three corner kick opportunities in the first half, however they were unable to find the back of the net.
- The Rangers added their second goal of the night in the final stages of the first half as Gianna Sparaco took control of the ball off a bounce from Maggie Payne's goal kick and proceeded to play it ahead to Natalie Bunch. Bunch then attacked into the box and placed the ball into the right corner of the net in the 39th minute for a 2-0 advantage.
- The BHSU offense remained active in the early minutes of the second half as they gained a corner kick opportunity in the 50th minute and saw a shot land on target by Kayla Osegueda as she received a pass from Valenzuela-Acosta at the top of the box and fired a shot towards the bottom left corner of the goal in the 52nd minute.
- The teams went back-and-forth until the closing minutes when Regis added a pair of late goals by Fernanda Rodriguez as she took a deflected pass and raced down the field on a breakaway as she scored the ball into the left corner of the net in the 87th minute, than just 35 seconds later in the 88th minute she received a pass at the top of the box and worked her way around several defenders to find a look to fire the ball into the left corner of the net.
- Black Hills State held the advantage in shots (17-15) and corner kicks (5-1), while Regis held the edge in shots on goal (9-6) and saves (6-5).Â
