Hearne and Ragsdale Garner RMAC All-Conference Accolades

The guard duo accounted for nearly 50% of the team’s scoring this season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A dynamic guard duo of the Black Hills State University men's basketball team picked up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) All-Conference accolades for their performances this season on the hardwood, the conference office announced this afternoon. Matthew Ragsdale highlighted the honors with his First Team selection, while Caelin Hearne picked up an Honorable Mention nod.
Matthew Ragsdale – First Team
The league's leading scorer at 22.6 points per game, the lone RMAC men's basketball player to average 20+ points a game this season, lands First Team honors for the Yellow Jackets. Ragsdale (Gr., Colorado, Springs, Colo.) enters the RMAC Semifinals sitting top-10 in all of NCAA Division II in scoring with his 22.5 points per game at No. 9 in the nation.

The Colorado Springs native was a threat from deep all season long, leading the RMAC with his 87 made 3-pointers. He shot the deep ball at a clip of 36.7%. He also proved to be a sure thing at the free throw line for the Yellow Jackets, leading the team with his 84.9% (73-for-86) mark, which sat fifth in the league this year.

Furthermore, Ragsdale was the first player in RMAC history to notch 1,000 career points at two different RMAC institutions.

Ragsdale ends his collegiate career as a three-time RMAC All-Conference honoree, including a pair of First Team accolades (2021-22 at Western Colorado). Last season, his first at Black Hills State, he garnered Second Team recognition.

Caelin Hearne – Honorable Mention
It was a break out junior season for the Norman, Oklahoma native who sat second on the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game. He became red hot in the month of February when he averaged 20.0 points per game throughout the month, when he entered the month at just 10.9 points game. February also saw him post his only three 20-point games of the season in that span.

Additionally, Hearne (Jr., Norman, Okla.) sat second on the team in steals at 27 and also posted the team's second-best mark of 17 blocks. He sat third on the team in rebounds (127) and rebounds per game (4.4) throughout the season.

Hearne is picking up his first-career postseason honor in his Yellow Jacket career this season.

The Yellow Jackets will hit the road for Grand Junction, Colorado for the semifinals clash with the top-seeded Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University on Friday, March 9 from Brownson Arena. You can catch the action on the RMAC Network ($) or live on KDSJ Radio with tip-off set for 5:00 PM (MT).
