SPEARFISH, S.D. - Head Triathlon Coach
Connie Feist has announced the recent signing of Scarlett Walsh from Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. Scarlett has excelled both in the pool and on the track during her career at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City, Iowa.
Her athletic accomplishments include: Iowa State Meet Qualifier in Cross Country, Track and Field and Swimming; Five-time All-Conference Athletic Award recipient; Ten top-eight finishes at the Midwestern Swim Championships and Winner of the Missouri River Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships in 2023.
Coach Feist notes, "We are so pleased to have Scarlett joining our triathlon team this Fall. She has the magic combination of swimming and running abilities and we expect her to have a very successful collegiate career on the race-course and pursuing her major in Biology studies. She possesses a positive, can-do attitude which will fit right in with our team members."
In addition to her athletic achievements, Scarlett also excels in the classroom: maintaining a 4.0 GPA; is a member of the National Honor Society; and is a recipient of the Academic All-State Award from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches for excellence in academics and cross country.
Scarlett committed to BHSU after her campus visit, stating: "I felt very at home at Black Hills State. The triathlon team was very welcoming, and the scenery is beautiful. I enjoyed the campus and can see myself having success and growing as both a student and an athlete there."
