MINOT, N.D. – Black Hills State wins the first but loses the second as Laci Peskey put on a historic season debut in game one to beat UMary 7-1. However, the offense couldn't keep it going in Game two and a late charge by UMary allowed the Marauders to win 5-2 and split the doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets answered back with Tyler Whitlock hitting a sacrifice fly to the first basement, then freshman Desi Hernandez hit an RBI Double to deep left field, which allowed BHSU to get the bases loaded, which was followed by a walk by Anna Gietzen which scored Hernandez then Alyssa Wong stole home to make it 4-1, before a strikeout ended the inning. In total, six players reached base, and the Jackets batted around.

•    Black Hills State was able to force another bases loaded situation in the fourth with Hernandez walking, Pauwels hitting a single, and Wong forcing her third walk, before Audrey Fouras hit a double that scored Hernandez and Pauwels to bring the score to 7-1 as Peskey struck out the side to go up to ten strikeouts setting a new career high in strikeouts and breaking the record for most strikeouts in a season opener.
