BILLINGS, Mont.- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets finished sixth in the Briarwood shootout after shooting nine shots better today than yesterday with a 343 (+55) en route to a full tournament 695 (+119). They finished only one shot behind Central Wyoming for fifth place and it was in large part due to a fabulous turnaround by
Makaela Swanson who went from fourth on the team to first on the team today.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Makaela Swanson had a massive turnaround today. After finishing last on the team yesterday with a 90 (+18), Swanson completely turned it around and shot a 79 (+7) today to work her way to the top of the Black Hills State leaderboard with a 169 (+25) over the two days and a 13th place finish. Swanson started her round +1 over her first 10 holes and had a stretch of three pars in a row late in the round to shoot a 38 (+2) on the back nine. She made back-to-back birdies on 18 and 1 during her round as well.
- Katie Jorgenson shot back-to-back 85 (+13) rounds while shooting her 170 (+26) 36-hole score and finishing in a tie for 15th place. Jorgenson started her second round, going +3 on the first two holes before going +1 on the next eight with a birdie on hole 16 and five pars. She had a late stretch of three pars in a row, but her 39 (+3) on the back nine really carried her round today. Jorgenson head's into Spring with a second-place team finish in Billings.
- Shelbi Gardner finished third on the team overall and tied with Jorgenson today shooting an 85 (+13) with a 36-hole score of 174 (+30). Gardner started her round +1 through her first five holes with a birdie on 14 and then started her front nine +3 through her first six and shot a consistent 43 (+7), 42 (+6) on each nine. She made seven pars and a birdie while finishing in a tie for 20th in the tournament.
- Savanah Peterson's streak of tying her bettering her career-low round ended today with a 94 (+22) this round. She shot 182 (+38) for the tournament and finished fourth on the team. Peterson started on hole 10 and really struggled late in the back nine after only being +5 through the first six holes. She bounced back on the front nine with two pars and a birdie to shoot a 43 (+6) on the front nine and keep her under 95 for the day.

The Yellow Jackets will head into the long Winter break and will have a full five months off before starting the Spring season in March with a tournament that is still TBA.
