COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's cross country teams ran to a pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday at the RMAC Cross Country Championships, hosted at the Monument Valley Park. The Yellow Jacket teams each recorded ninth place finishes, with the men totaling 282 points for their best finish since 2020 in the meet, while the women totaled 256 points for their best finish since 2021.
Turner Christians led the way on the men's side with a 50
th place finish and
Evie Boyd paced the women's team with a 33
rd place finish. Competing in one of the toughest conferences in NCAA Division II, the RMAC Championships featured six nationally-ranked men's programs and seven nationally-ranked women's programs, including both of the nation's No. 1 ranked squads.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- Turner Christians led the way for the Black Hills State men at the RMAC Championships, turning in a 50th place finish with an 8K time of 26:01.81.
- Dominic Eberle and Sean Shipp were second and third in the Yellow Jacket lineup, finishing seconds apart with times of 26:27.06 and 26:29.03 for 61st and 63rd respectively. Shipp's time set a new career-best at the 8K distance. Landrum Wiley was also close behind the duo of Eberle and Shipp, crossing the finish line with a time of 26:36.40 for 65th place.
- Emmett Swartzentruber and Jaxon Straus notched finishes of 76th and 77th as they clocked times within a second of one another at 27:02.06 and 27:02.81 respectively.
- Freshman Anthony Ackerman rounded out the team lineup with an 8K time of 27:24.33 for 87th place.
- Additional runners competing for the Yellow Jackets at the conference championship included Thomas Oylear and Wyatt Ostler, who clocked times of 27:43.44 and 28:10.17 for 95th and 100th place respectively.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- For the fourth time this season, Evie Boyd led the way for the Black Hills State women's team as she recorded a career-best 6K time of 22:07.88 for 33rd place. The second Yellow Jacket to post a sub-23 minute time was Emma Hofmeister who finished 53rd with a time of 22:53.11
- The freshman duo of Mason Berg and Ava Allen were the next to cross the finish line for the Yellow Jackets, finishing 61st and 70th respectively with times of 23:07.40 and 23:26.82. Berg's time was a new career-best mark at the 6K distance.
- Gracie Craig secured a season-best 6K time of 23:36.03 for 73rd place and was followed by Abigail Robberson and Sierra Hopp who also added season-best times within a single second of each other at 23:48.92 and 23:49.71 for 76th and 77th place respectively.
- Other athletes competing at the conference championships for BHSU included Alyssa Brandt and Kadence Baun who notched times of 24:35.46 and 24:53.75 respectively for 99th and 103rd place finishes.
