SPEARFISH, S.D. – The rise in the national rankings continues, as the Black Hills State University men's basketball team checks in at No. 15 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Top-25 poll on Tuesday afternoon. The fifth regular season poll marks the fourth consecutive week they have moved up two spots in the rankings.
BHSU Concluded the 2025 calendar year with a record of 10-1 (4-0 RMAC) by defeating Dickinson State (81-57) in A2 Arena on Friday, December 19. The win marked the sixth win of 20 or more points this season, eighth straight win this season, and the tenth straight win in their home arena. The Yellow Jackets are among the top statistically in the nation in several different categories, including ranking fourth in NCAA Division II in effective field goal percentage (60.1%), fifth in field goal percentage (52.0%), sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.65), ninth in assists per game (19.5), 12
th in defensive rebounds per game (29.73), 17
th in 3-point percentage (39.9%), 19
th in scoring margin (15.5), and is 27
th in 3-pointers per game (10.2)
The Yellow Jackets continue to be the lone Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) team to be ranked or receiving votes, and again are one of five ranked or receiving votes in the South Central Region as Lone Star Conference foes Lubbock Christian is No. 8, St. Edward's is No. 13, West Texas A&M is No. 14, St. Mary's is No. 20, and Eastern New Mexico is No. 24.
Black Hills State will play their first game of the 2026 calendar year on Thursday, January 1, as they visit Aberdeen, South Dakota, to play Northern State.
