SPEARFISH, S.D. –
Morgan Hammerbeck made it to her career high in rebounds tonight in route to her first double-double of her career. She had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (12-7 (8-4 RMAC)) 69-54 win versus the South Dakota Mines (5-14 (5-7 RMAC)) Hardrockers.
The game was tied at halftime and BHSU held a slim 52-50 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but a 16-4 run throughout the final frame gave BHSU the win that snapped their three-game losing streak. Hammerbeck had help from both
Kalla Bertram and
Bradie Schlabs, who scored 16 each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game started with a Spotted Bear steal and a runaway bucket to put South Dakota Mines up 2-0. Spotted Bear would make another layup to go up 4-0.
Gracie Haneborg, Miquedah Taliman, and
Haylee Weathersby traded baskets to turn the score to 6-4. Piper Bauer would make the next two shots to make it 10-5 with 4:55 remaining in the half. Hammerbeck hit two threes in the half including her first to make it 10-8 and another to make it 12-11 with 3:22 remaining in the quarter. Hammerbeck would make another layup to tie the game for the second time at 15-15, before Bertram had two three-point plays to give BHSU a 20-17 lead heading into the second quarter.
• Spotted Bear started the quarter with a jumper to bring the lead back to one and Bauer hit a three to tie it up at 22. Bertram and Hammerbeck each got a layup to up the lead back to four, before Spotted Bear hit an immediate layup to bring it back to two at 26-24 with 6:04 remaining in the half. The Hardrocker's Lauren Herman and Haneborg each hit threes to keep the lead at two, before Herman made a layup to tie it at 29 with 4:13 remaining. Herman would hit another three to take the lead at 32-30. Taliman and Weathersby would trade bucket to bring the score to 34-33, before Bertram would make a free throw to tie it and send it to the half at 34-34.

• Black Hills State started the half on a 10-0 run thanks to six points from Schlabs, and BHSU held a 44-34 lead with 6:34 left in the quarter. South Dakota Mines answererd right back with a 16-4 run of their own with thanks to five free throws and a layup from Savea Mansfield to take the lead 50-49.
Kalla Bertram converted a three-point play to take the lead 52-50 and send it to the final frame.
• The Yellow Jackets started the fourth quarter on a 14-0 run that lasted 7:16. Spotted Bear had the first two points of the quarter for the Hardrockers with 2:44 remaining in the game. That run was fueled by eight points and two threes from Hammerbeck, before Schlabs hit the dagger three to put the Jackets up 17 with 1:25 remaining. The Yellow Jackets held the Hardrockers to four points in the half and took the win 69-54.
