PUEBLO, Colo. – The 2025 outdoor track & field season got underway on Friday afternoon at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl for the Black Hills State program as a handful of athletes competed in field events at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational. Highlighting the action on the day was a top-10 performance in the triple jump for
Casen Willson, the highest finisher of the day for BHSU, while on the women's side it was
Sophie Louderback who led the way with an 11
th place mark in the triple jump.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Casen Willson posted a career-best outdoor triple jump mark, as he recorded a jump of 42' 3.75" for an eighth place finish in the event.
- In the hammer throw, Anthony Rosenstrauch recorded a mark of 138' 7.75" for a 22nd place finish in the first day of outdoor competition.
- Making his 2024-25 debut for the Yellow Jackets, Barren Yellow Bird notched a 22nd place finish in the javelin throw, recording a mark of 139' 11" as he came within a foot of his career-best.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Sophie Louderback finished just outside of the top-10 in the triple jump, collecting an 11th place finish with a mark of 34' 8" as her strong freshman campaign continued into the outdoor season.
- The pair of Christianna Wall and Jada Guptill posted 25th and 31st place finishes in the javelin throw, recording marks of 77' 4.25" and 70' 10.25" respectively as the outdoor season got underway.
- The lone Yellow Jacket in the hammer throw, Isabell Higgins, notched a 17th place finish in the event with a mark of 132' 10" as she made her collegiate debut in the event.

Day two of action at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl will get underway at 8:30 a.m. with track events, while field events begin at 10 a.m. as the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational continues on Saturday, March 22.
