LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Black Hills State University men's and women's track & field team wrapped up a 4-day trip to the west coast as they saw four student-athletes competing at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational on Saturday. Among the highlights on the final day in the women's 1,500m run,
Katelyn Krieger posted the eighth-fastest time in program history, while for the second time this week
Braden Anderson came within a single second of his school record time in the 800m run.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT BAUER OPEN (FRIDAY DISCUS)
- Ryan Baker recorded the win in the discus throw at the Bauer Open on Friday, posting a mark of 42.72m (140' 2"). Joining Baker within the top-10 of the event was Canyon Burkard in sixth with a career-best mark of 39.64m (130' 1"), Anthony Rosenstrauch in seventh with a mark of 39.35m (129' 1"), and Conor McGraw in eighth with a mark of 39.32m (129' 0").
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT MT. SAC RELAYS
- For the second consecutive time this week, Braden Anderson came within a single second of re-breaking his career-best and school record in the 800m run, as he clocked a time of 1:50.87 for 19th place. While securing the top-20 finish, he bested a pair of NCAA Division I runners in the event.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT BEACH INVITATIONAL
- Jaxon Straus turned in a top-10 finish in the 1,500m run, clocking a career-best time of 3:58.45 for ninth place. He ran to a faster time than two NCAA Division I athletes in the event.
- Also competing in the 1,500m run, Jonah Rigg came within 1.18 seconds of matching his career-best that he set earlier this week in California, as he posted a time of 4:01.58 for 14th place. He bested one NCAA Division I runner on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT BAUER OPEN (FRIDAY DISCUS)
- The duo of Cassidy Goddard and Isabell Higgins led the Yellow Jackets in the discus throw at the Bauer Open on Friday, recording a second and third place finish respectively with marks of 38.68m (126' 11") and 37.10m (121' 9"). Rounding out the trio of BHSU athletes competing was Christianna Wall who added a top-10 finish with a throw of 34.87m (114' 5") for seventh place.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD AT BEACH INVITATIONAL
- Running to the eighth-fastest 1,500m time in program history, Katelyn Krieger earned a top-10 finish of sixth place with a career-best time of 4:41.17 in the event. She ran a faster time than eight NCAA Division I athletes.
- Also competing in the 1,500m run and securing a new career-best time in the event was Emma Hofmeister, who crossed the finish line 12th with a time of 4:48.13. She clocked a faster time than four NCAA Division I athletes in the event.
