LAKEWOOD, COLO.- The Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (27-26 (25-20 RMAC)) were unable to hold an early 2-0 lead as they fell to MSU Denver 8-2 in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. BHSU scored two early in the first inning but allowed eight unanswered runs in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• BHSU started swinging early. With one out,
Carly Reyes Mims singled and then made it to second on a groundout by
Desi Hernandez. Pauwels hit a soft single to get on base, which kept Reyes Mims at second.
Alyssa Wong hit a two-out double that scored Reyes Mims and Pauwels to give BHSU an early 2-0 lead.
Laci Peskey sent the first three batters down in order 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first.
• BHSU goes down 1-2-3 in the second inning. Miki Berg hits a one-out single but Peskey strikes out Aaliyah Arellano and then gets Adriana Bueno to pop out to end the inning with the Yellow Jackets still leading 2-0.
• Hannah DiFabio hit a one-out double down the left line and scored on a single by Katie Maney, which cut the Yellow Jackets lead down to 2-1. Maney stole second and Jaiden Geist hit a two-run home run to give MSU Denver the 3-2 lead. Peskey struck out Jenna Medhus on three pitches to end the inning, with MSUD holding a 3-2 lead.
• With one out, Wong battled for a walk and then
Katelyn Jarzobski hit a soft grounder to shortstop, who made a bad pass to second base to allow both runners to reach.
Audrey Fouras grounded out to advance both runners and
Lily Simmons struck out to end the frame. In the bottom of the fourth, Miki Berg hit a single through the left side and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Lexi Gephart hit a single to score Berg. Gephart stole second and scored on a single by DiFabio to give the Roadrunners a 5-2 lead.
• Alexia Boring and Geist both singled to lead off the inning and Medhus walked to load the bases. Peskey struck out the next two batters, before walking Brooklyn Enny to score a run and then got Gephart to line out to end the inning with the Roadrunners increasing their lead 6-2 heading into the sixth inning.
• Peskey got the first two batters out in the bottom of the sixth before allowing a single to Boring and then gave up her second home run to Geist this game, which gave MSU Denver a 8-2 lead.
Malaya Coleman came in to pitch for Peskey and allowed a soft single through the left side to Medhus before getting Berg to ground out to end the inning. That would be it as the Yellow Jackets went 1-2-3 in the third and MSU Denver takes the win 8-2.
