HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Hills State offensive attack threatened early with three corner kick attempts in the first 21 minutes of action, however, they were unable to post a shot attempt until the 41st minute when Ivy Agee sent a shot from 25-yards out over the goal for the lone shot of the opening half for the Green & Gold.
- The Yellow Jacket defense held MSU Denver to only three total shot attempts in the first half, with none of the three on target. The first looks at the goal for the Roadrunners came in the 28th minute when Aubri Roth and Zoe Evans stopped the ball near the line, then Ellie Talich deflected a shot by Madeline Everett, and ultimately Jasmine Bea Lumbera's shot from the top left corner of the box went high and over the goal. The third and final shot of the half for MSUD came in the 44th minute by Madrid Mack, which was deflected by Mirabel Shellabarger and picked up harmlessly by Rian Barthel as the Yellow Jacket defense continued to cause issues for the Roadrunners.
- The first shot on target by either team came in the 46th minute, as just 40 seconds into the second half Agee fired a shot from 30 yards out towards the left post that made Kiley Hyde make a diving deflection. MSU Denver responded with their only shot on frame of the day in the 53rd minute as Barthel corralled a header from Tatum Flynn towards the left side of the net off a corner kick set.
- While BHSU held the slight 5-4 edge in shot attempts the final 36 minutes of action, the Green & Gold saw an additional shot on target in the 68th minute from Beth Collins as she sent in a line drive shot attempt from 30 yards out to the left side of the net that was knocked down by Hyde.
- The Yellow Jackets were able to break the tie in the 86th minute as Ally Boysen found the back of the net for her fifth game-winner of the season, tied for the most in the RMAC and second nationally, as Collins and Agee sent a string of passes directly up the center of the field and Boysen tracked it down and put the ball into the upper center of the net, through contact, and over the head of Hyde to make it 1-0.
- Then just minutes later in the 89th minute, Agee put the game on ice as she took a short pass from Holly Benson, worked her way back towards the center of the field and fired a strike from the top left corner of the box from 25 yards out into the upper left corner to make it a 2-0 contest.
