HOW IT HAPPENED
- Black Hills State was able to strike first scoring the opening goal of the match in the tenth minute as the very first shot attempt found the back of the net as passes from Aubri Roth and Ivy Agee found Ally Boysen cutting to the net and the pass found her in front of the open net as Marin Mackenzie was unable to stop Agee's pass.
- The Yellow Jackets lead last only a few minutes as Westminster responded in the 14th minute when Kayla Sato's pass ahead from past midfield found Natalie Cardin, who then gained control of the ball behind the back line of defense and had an open opportunity at the net from the left side of the box and proceeded to send it into the back right corner of the net to even the score at 1-1.
- The Green & Gold broke the tie and regained the lead once again in the 28th minute as Peyton Hill drew a foul on Mackenzie in the box as she looked to track down the ball, resulting in a penalty kick where Boysen fired the ball into the upper center of the net to make it a 2-1 match.
- BHSU added an additional three shot attempts to hold a 6-2 advantage in shot attempts during the opening half.
- The Griffins scored the game-tying goal in the 56th minute off a free kick set just outside of the box on the left side of the field when a quick set of passes from Cardin and Amber McIntosh found Skye Kennedy at the back post for a header into the net to even the score at 2-2.
- Rian Barthel made her lone save of the match in the 65th minute as she made a diving save in front of the left post off a shot from Adrianna Pulver from just inside the left side of the box.
- Subbing into the contest with 22 minutes remaining, Karsyn Fraser-Slothower made three critical saves to keep the match tied. She stopped a pair of shots from Ella Schutjer in the 78th and 83rd minutes as she caught a shot attempt off a free kick attempt from the left side of the field and then making a diving save on the right side of the net. The third save came in the 85th minute when she dove onto the ball on a close, low shot attempt towards the center of the net from Abigail Austin.
