BILLINGS, Mont. –  Black Hills State had another historic day in Billings as they not only officially broke the program team 54-hole record, but also broke the program team 18-hole record on the final day of the Yellowjacket Fall Invite. BHSU shot a 315 (+27) today, which is the first time since joining D2 that BHSU has broken 320. This allowed BHSU to shoot a 968 (+104) overall today, which broke the previous 54-hole mark by 52 shots, to finish fifth in the tournament.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Shelbi Gardner just posted her career-best round of 75 (+3) directly after tying her previous career-best of 77 (+5) yesterday. Gardner moved up from 18^th to tenth from day one to the final score and had an exceptional day today. The 75 put her as the third lowest 18-hole score in D2 era history and the 234 (+18) broke the individual program record for 54-hole score by nine shots. She started her day today on fire sitting two under through seven holes and finished her round +1 over her last eight holes. She made three birdies including her first hole of hole five, her last hole of four, and hole 11. She finished with ten pars as well.
• Megan Robb bounced back today after her 85 (+13) yesterday and posted the lowest round of her career of a 78 (+6) and also put her second in program history for 54-hole score with a 242 (+26). The round also moved her up seven spots from 19^th to 12^th in one day. Robb was able to post an under par nine holes on the back nine shooting a 35 (-1) on the second nine. After making three bogeys in her first four holes, she went one under through her next 11. She made back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14 and six straight pars from holes 15-hole two. She ended up with two birdies and ten pars.
• Madison Brown had her best round as a Yellow Jacket yet, where she posted a 79 (+7) for the first sub-80 round of her career. Brown followed up an 80 (+8) yesterday to shoot a 54-hole score of 248 (+32) to put her in 20^th place in the tournament. She posted the sixth lowest 54-hole score in BHSU's D2 era and finished fourth on the team. Brown started her day +4 through her first 14 holes and had a stretch of six holes from 13-18, where she went one under. She made a crucial birdie on 14 and then birdied hole two to break 80 with nine pars as well.
• Cheyenne Shade finished in third overall and fourth today on the team with an 83 (+11) as she finished in a tie for 18^th in the tournament with a 247 (+31) 54-hole score. That score is the fifth lowest 54-hole score in the D2 era for BHSU. Shad only had one hole worse than bogey today and made eight pars including five on the back nine.
• Reagan Hatling had her best performance of the career. After breaking 100 for the first time yesterday with a 95 (+23), she broke 90 for the first time today with an 88 (+16) as she had a very impressive 41 (+5) on the back nine with five pars. She made seven pars overall total. Hatling finished in 32^nd place with a 286 (+70) and has continued her streak of five straight rounds better than the previous.
• The Yellow Jackets posted the third lowest round of the day beating South Dakota Mines by six shots and MSU Denver by ten shots. It was the second time this year, BHSU has beaten SDM in a round.
