BILLINGS, Mont. - Only a trio of Black Hills State men's cross country athletes were in action on Friday morning at Amend Park, as each tallied finishes in the top half of the 97-runner field at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open, co-hosted by Montana State Billings and Rocky Mountain. Leading the way with a top-15 finish was Quinn Bruch, one of two freshmen competing for the Green & Gold alongside Ian Weich, while senior Alberto Spotted rounded out the group as they each ran in their first 8K of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- Leading the way for Black Hills State was Quinn Bruch, running in just his second collegiate race and first 8K, as he ran to a 13th place finish and time of 26:02.8.
- A second freshman competing on Friday morning for the Yellow Jackets was Ian Weich, who tallied a time of 26:59.2 for a 27th place finish.
- Senior distance runner Alberto Spotted solidified a finish in the top half of the 97-runner field for all three BHSU athletes as he ran to a time of 27:49.0 for 41st place in his first 8K race of the season.

The Black Hills State men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action Saturday, October 17, when they make a trip south to Fort Worth, Texas, where they will compete in Dallas Baptist's Old Glory Gallop at the AP Ranch.
