Hurdle Named RMAC Offensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the men's basketball player of the week awards for the previous week on Monday afternoon, which saw Black Hills State University redshirt senior guard/forward, Tristan Hurdle, recognized as the offensive player of the week. The sharpshooter used a 13-of-18 2-game stretch to find his way back atop the national leader board, knocking down 49.2 percent of his shots from deep this season. He helped the No. 20 Yellow Jackets find their way back into a tie for the league lead as the season winds its way down and was a key piece of tying the school record 19 made 3-pointers as a team on Saturday afternoon against Regis. The weekly award is Black Hills State's second of the 2025-26 season, as Myles Johnson received RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on December 1.

RMAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TRISTAN HURDLE | GUARD/FORWARD | REDSHIRT SENIOR | 6-6 | 205 LBS | HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLO. | HIGHLANDS RANCH H.S. | FORT LEWIS
  • He led No. 20 Black Hills State offensively to a 2-0 week with victories at home over Colorado School of Mines (87-69) and Regis (84-51), which helped the Yellow Jackets jump back into a tie for first place in the RMAC standings.
  • During the week he averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting the ball 14-of-20 (70.0%) from the field and 13-of-18 from 3-point range in just an average of 16.8 minutes per game.
  • He did not commit a turnover in either game this week against the Orediggers and the Rangers.
  • His week began with a 15-point, 2-rebound performance against CSM, shooting the ball 5-of-8 from the field and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in just 15 minutes. He held a +/- of +10 against Colorado School of Mines.
  • In the second game of the week against RU, he recorded season-highs of 26 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while shooting the ball 9-of-12 from the field and 8-of-11 from 3-point range in just 18 minutes of action. After knocking down two 3-pointers in the opening half, he took over the game during a six and a half minute stretch in the second half as he scored 20 of the team's 29 points. During the second half the Green & Gold twice connected on four consecutive made baskets from deep as a team, and during each of those stretches Hurdle would make a trio of shots from beyond the arc, totaling six in the second half to match a career-high of eight made 3-pointers in a game. He held a +/- of +37 in the game against Regis.
  • As a team Black Hills State would tie the school record of 19 made 3-pointers in a single game as a team against Regis, and doing so for the second time in less than a month as they also hit 19 triples in a January 22nd match-up at Colorado Mesa. Hurdle was one of four players in the game to knock down multiple 3-pointers in the contest.
  • Hurdle tied for second all-time in program history and tied for first in the school's NCAA Division II era for the most made 3-pointers in a single game by an individual with his eight 3-pointers, tying marks set by himself against Regis on January 9, 2025, and by PJ Hayes on January 20, 2022, against South Dakota Mines.
  • Hurdle has sank four or more 3-pointers in a game now five times this year, and on 16 occasions this season he has connected on multiple 3-pointers in a game.
  • He has scored in double digits in 16 games and has twice scored 20 or more points this season.
  • He now once again ranks No. 1 in NCAA Division II in 3-point percentage following his 13-of-18 (72.2%) week from distance and now is shooting 59-of-120 (49.2%) from beyond the arc on the season.
